The Sierra Leone Network on the Right to Food (SiLNoRF) has strengthened its commitment to professional development and institutional capacity building by supporting four staff members to participate in a two-day intensive training on Project Management and Strategic Communication for Non-Governmental Organisations (NGOs), organised by the Sierra Leone Association of Non-Governmental Organisations (SLANGO).

The training brought together project staff and representatives from selected NGOs across Sierra Leone to enhance their knowledge and practical skills in project planning, implementation, monitoring and evaluation, strategic communication, advocacy, and organisational management.
The four SiLNoRF staff members who participated were Fatmata Maria Koroma, Idrissa Jerry Kargbo, Mariatu A. Mansaray, and Alimamy F. Samura. The programme was held at the Council of Churches in Sierra Leone (CCSL) Hall, Kingham Road, Freetown.

Led by development expert Dr. Colomba Michael Blango, the training explored key aspects of NGO operations, including project design, logical frameworks, effective reporting, advocacy campaign development, crisis communication, and organisational reputation management. Participants also engaged in practical exercises aimed at strengthening their application of project management tools and frameworks.
A key component of the training focused on Artificial Intelligence (AI) and its potential to improve efficiency and reduce workloads in NGO operations. AI expert and facilitator, Mr. Edward Aloushious Renner, introduced participants to relevant AI tools while emphasising the importance of human judgement, creativity, critical thinking, and professional responsibility in their application.

The training concluded with a certificate presentation ceremony, recognising participants for successfully completing the programme.
SiLNoRF commends SLANGO for its continued efforts to strengthen the capacity of civil society organisations in Sierra Leone and appreciates its management for supporting staff development initiatives. The organisation recognises that investing in professional learning is essential to improving programme delivery, strengthening communication, and promoting accountability and sustainable development.
Through continuous capacity building, SiLNoRF remains committed to equipping its staff with the knowledge and practical skills necessary to advance the Right to Food, human rights, community empowerment, and sustainable development across Sierra Leone.
